The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 10:29 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Kelvin Kenneth Ogilvie, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beyak, Cordy, Eggleton, P.C., Enverga, Nancy Ruth, Ogilvie, Patterson, Raine, Seidman and Wallace (10).

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, the committee continued its examination and report on the increasing incidence of obesity in Canada: causes, consequences and the way forward. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 22.)

WITNESSES:

Mark Tremblay, Director.

Canadian Fitness and Lifestyle Research Institute:

Dr. Christine Cameron, President.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Tremblay and Dr. Cameron each made a statement and answered questions.
