The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day, at 9:30 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Dennis Dawson, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dawson, Demers, Eggleton, P.C., Housakos, MacDonald, McInnis, Mercer, Plett and Verner, P.C. (9).
In attendance: Terrence Thomas and Dillan Theckedath, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, December 9, 2013, the committee continued its study on the challenges faced by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in relation to the changing environment of broadcasting and communications.

Mr. von Finckenstein made a statement and answered questions.
The Honourable Senator Plett moved:
That the chair be authorized to move the following motion in the Senate:
That, pursuant to rule 12-24(1), the Senate request a complete and detailed response from the Government to the Eighth Report of the Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications entitled: One Size Doesn't Fit All: The Future Growth and Competitiveness of Canadian Air Travel, tabled in the Senate on April 17, 2013, during the First Session of the Forty-first Parliament, and adopted on May 7, 2013, with the Minister of Transport being identified as the minister responsible for responding to the report.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
At 10:30 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
