The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 9:01 a.m., in the Saint-Maurice Room, Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, the chair, the Honourable Dennis Dawson, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dawson, Demers, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Housakos, Joyal, P.C., Massicotte, Plett and Verner, P.C. (8).
In attendance: Terrence Thomas, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Mona Ishack, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, December 9, 2013, the committee continued its study on the challenges faced by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in relation to the changing environment of broadcasting and communications. At 10:04 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 10:08 a.m., the committee resumed.
Mr. Duszara made a statement and, together with Mr. Thompson, answered questions.
At 10:56 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 11:01 a.m., the committee resumed.
Mr. Cutting and Mr. Rogers each made a statement and, together with Ms. Hunting, answered questions.
At 11:16 a.m., the deputy chair of the committee, the Honourable Senator Housakos took the chair.
At 11:31 a.m., the Honourable Senator Dawson returned to the chair.
At 12:04 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 1:30 p.m., the committee resumed.
Mr. Létourneau made a statement and, together with Mr. St-Onge and Mr. Enault, answered questions.
At 2:27 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
