The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 11:08 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.
Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Day, Lang, Mitchell, Stewart Olsen and White (5).
In attendance: Isabelle Lafontaine-Émond, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 14, 2015, and delegated on Monday, May 25, 2014 by the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence, the subcommittee continued its examination of the subject matter of those elements contained in Division 17 of Part 3 of Bill C-59, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on April 21, 2015 and other measures.

The chair made an opening statement.
Mr. Gray and Ms. Migneault each made a statement and, together, answered questions.
At 11:59 a.m., the subcommittee suspended.
At 12:04 p.m., the subcommittee resumed in camera, pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 14, 2015, and delegated on Monday, May 25, 2014 by the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence, the subcommittee continued its examination on the subject matter of those elements contained in Division 17 of Part 3 of Bill C-59, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on April 21, 2015 and other measures.
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the subcommittee considered a draft report.
It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room.
It was agreed that the draft report be adopted in principle, and that the chair and deputy chair be authorized to make editorial revisions and to add text resulting from today's testimony.
At 12:12 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the chair.
