The Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples met in camera this day at 6:45 p.m., in room C128, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Lillian Eva Dyck, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Christmas, Coyle, Dyck, Francis, LaBoucane-Benson, Lovelace Nicholas, McCallum, McPhedran, Pate, Patterson and Tannas (11).
In attendance: Brittany Collier and Marlisa Tiedemann, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Síofra McAllister, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, December 15, 2016, the committee continued its study on the new relationship between Canada and First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 16.)
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft agenda (future business).
It was agreed that senator's staff be permitted to remain in the room for the in camera meeting.
It was agreed to permit the recording and transcription of the in camera meeting, that one copy of the transcript be kept with the clerk for consultation purposes by the senators and staff present, and that the copy be destroyed at the end of the current parliamentary session.
At 7:39 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
