The Special Senate Committee on the Arctic met this day at 6:28 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Dennis Glen Patterson, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bovey, Coyle, Eaton, Gold, Jaffer, Neufeld, Oh, Pate and Patterson (9).

In attendance: Sara Fryer, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, the committee continued its study on the significant and rapid changes to the Arctic, and impacts on original inhabitants. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1.)

WITNESSES:

Inuvialuit Regional Corporation:

Bob Simpson, Director, Government Affairs.

Nunatsiavut Government:

Johannes Lampe, President;

Isabella Pain, Deputy Minister, Nunatsiavut Secretariat.

Mr. Lampe made a statement and, together with Ms. Pain, answered questions.

At 7:34 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 7:36 p.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Simpson made a statement and answered questions.

At 8:32 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
