The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met this day at 4:20 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable David Tkachuk, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Campbell, Day, Enverga, Greene, Moncion, Plett, Ringuette, Smith, Tkachuk, Wallin and Wetston (11).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Tannas (1).

In attendance: Michaël Lambert-Racine and Adriane Yong, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, the committee continued its study and report on the development of a national corridor in Canada as a means of enhancing and facilitating commerce and internal trade. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 8.)

WITNESSES:

Infrastructure Canada:

Marc Fortin, Assistant Deputy Minister, Program Operations;

Glenn Campbell, Executive Director, Canada Infrastructure Bank Transition Office.

Canadian Chamber of Commerce:

Ryan Greer, Director, Transportation and Infrastructure Policy.

Association of Canadian Port Authorities:

Wendy Zatylny, President;

Mike Ircha, Senior Advisor.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Fortin made a statement and, together with Mr. Campbell, answered questions.

At 5:29 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 5:35 p.m., the committee resumed.

The chair made a statement.

Ms. Zatylny and Mr. Greer each made a statement and, together with Mr. Ircha, answered questions.

At 6:11 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 6:13 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).

After debate, it was agreed that the committee schedule the clause-by-clause consideration of Bill S-224 for Wednesday, March 29 during its usual timeslot.

At 6:26 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
