The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met this day at 10:33 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black, Campbell, Carignan, P.C., Day, Enverga, Maltais, Massicotte, Tannas, Unger, Wallin and Wetston (11).

In attendance: Adriane Yong, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, the committee continued its study on issues and concerns pertaining to cyber security and cyber fraud.

WITNESSES:

Smart Cybersecurity Network (SERENE-RISC):

Benoît Dupont, Scientific Director (by video conference).

Communications Security Establishment:

Scott Jones, Deputy Chief, IT Security;

André Boucher, Director General, Cyber Security Partnerships.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Dupont made a statement and answered questions.

At 11:27 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 11:30 a.m., the committee resumed.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Jones made a statement and, together with Mr. Boucher, answered questions.

At 12:25 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
