The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met this day at 5:55 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Richard Neufeld, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dean, Fraser, Galvez, Griffin, Lang, Massicotte, Mockler, Neufeld, Patterson, Seidman and Wetston (11).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Doyle (1).
In attendance: Sam Banks and Jesse Good, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 10, 2016, the committee continued its study on the effects of transitioning to a low carbon economy. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 4.)

Jean Simard, President and Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Simard made a statement and answered questions.
At 7:09 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 7:10 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
At 7:17 p.m., the committee resumed in public to consider a draft budget.
It was agreed that the following budget request for the special study on transitioning to a low carbon economy, for the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2018, be approved and submitted to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration.
