The Subcommittee on Human Resources met this day at 5:52 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Raymonde Saint-Germain, presiding.

Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Jaffer, Moncion, Saint-Germain, Tannas and Tkachuk (5).

Also in attendance: Laurence Brosseau and Mayra Perez-Leclerc, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; Ariane Larouche, Legislative Clerk, Committees Directorate, Senate of Canada.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to rule 12-7(1) of the Rules of the Senate, the subcommittee continued its consideration of financial and administrative matters concerning the Senate's internal administration.

Topic: Review of the Senate's Harassment Policy

The chair made a statement.

Michelle Bird, Workplace Investigator and Training.

Nelligan O'Brien Payne LLP:

Christopher Rootham, Lawyer.

University of Calgary:

Sandy Hershcovis, Associate Professor and Area Chair, Organizational Behavior and Human Resources.

Ms. Rubin and Ms. Rootham made a statement and answered questions.

At 6:30 p.m., the subcommittee suspended.

À 7:06 p.m., the subcommittee resumed.

Ms. Hershcovis made a statement and answered questions.

At 7:45 p.m., the subcommittee suspended.

At 7:47 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the subcommittee resumed in camera to consider a draft report.

It was agreed:

The draft report, as amended, be adopted; and

That the Chair and the Deputy Chair be empowered to approve the final version of the report taking into consideration this meeting's discussions, and with any necessary editorial, grammatical and translation changes required.

At 8:03 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the chair.
