The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 5:47 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Ataullahjan, Eaton, Hubley, Manning, McInnis, Munson, Poirier, Raine and Stewart Olsen (9).
In attendance: Odette Madore, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 14, 2016, the committee began its study on Maritime Search and Rescue activities, including current challenges and opportunities.
WITNESSES:
Canadian Coast Guard:
Gregory Lick, Director General, Operations;
Neil O'Rourke, Senior Director, Policy;
Clay Evans, Superintendent, Marine Search and Rescue, Western Region.
The chair made a statement.
Mr. Lick made a statement and, together with Mr. Evans and Mr. O'Rourke, answered questions.
At 7:02 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 7:04 p.m., the committee resumed in camera, pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), to consider a draft agenda (future business).
At 7:13 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
