The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 8:32 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Ataullahjan, Christmas, Enverga, Forest, Gold, Hubley, Manning, McInnis, Plett, Sinclair and Watt (11).
In attendance: Odette Madore, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, the committee continued its examination of Bill S-203, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and other Acts (ending the captivity of whales and dolphins).

Sylvie Lapointe, A/Assistant Deputy Minister, Ecosystems and Fisheries Management;
Arran McPherson, Director General, Ecosystem Science Directorate;
Adam Burns, A/Director General, Fisheries Resource Management.
Department of Justice Canada:
Joanne Klineberg, Senior Counsel, Criminal Law Policy Section.
The chair made a statement.
Ms. Lapointe made a statement and, together with Mr. Burns, Ms. Klineberg and Ms. McPherson, answered questions.
The Honourable Senator Gold moved:
That the committee proceed in camera, pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), to consider a draft agenda (future business).
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
At 9:19 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 9:22 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
At 9:31 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
