The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 8:05 a.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, for the purpose of holding its reorganization meeting, pursuant to the order of the Senate of November 7, 2017.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bovey, Gold, Manning, McInnis, Munson, Plett, Poirier, Raine and Ringuette (9).

In attendance: Marcy Galipeau, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of the Senate of November 7, 2017, the clerk of the committee presided over the election of the chair.

The Honourable Senator Gold moved:

That the Honourable Senator Manning do take the chair of this committee.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The clerk invited Senator Manning to take the chair.

The committee observed a moment of silence in memory of the late Honorable Senator Enverga.

The chair presided over the election of the deputy chair.

The Honourable Senator McInnis moved:

That the Honourable Senator Gold be deputy chair of this committee.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The Honourable Senator Plett moved:

That the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be composed of the chair, the deputy chair, and one other member of the committee, to be designated after the usual consultation; and

That the subcommittee be empowered to make decisions on behalf of the committee with respect to its agenda, to invite witnesses, and to schedule hearings.

At 8:12 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 8:13 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).

At 8:22 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
