The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 8:38 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Coyle, Gold, Manning, McInnis, Poirier, Raine and Ringuette (7).
In attendance: Odette Madore, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Ben Silverman, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 14, 2016, the committee continued its study on Maritime Search and Rescue activities, including current challenges and opportunities. At 9:35 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 9:40 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft budget.
At 9:45 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 10:14 a.m., the committee resumed in public.
It was agreed that the following budget application for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019, in relation to a special study on Maritime Search and Rescue activities, including current challenges and opportunities, be approved for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration:
