The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 8:42 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Marc Gold, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Christmas, Coyle, Deacon, Gold, Manning, McInnis, Poirier and Raine (8).
In attendance: Odette Madore, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 14, 2016, the committee continued its study on Maritime Search and Rescue activities, including current challenges and opportunities. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 4.)
WITNESSES:
Canadian Coast Guard:
Gregory Lick, Director General, Operations;
Peter Garapick, Superintendent, Search and Rescue, Central and Arctic Region.
At 8:46 a.m., the Honourable Senator Manning took the chair.
The chair made a statement.
Mr. Lick made a statement and, together with Mr. Garapick, answered questions.
At 9:50 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
