The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 8:02 a.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bovey, Busson, Campbell, Christmas, Francis, Gold, Manning, Patterson, Petitclerc and Poirier (10).

In attendance: Daniele Lafrance, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament and Ben Silverman, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on December 11, 2018, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-55, An Act to amend the Oceans Act and the Canada Petroleum Resources Act. The chair made a statement.

Mr. Paul and Mr. Silver made statements and answered questions.

At 9:02 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 9:11 a.m., the committee resumed.
