The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 8:03 a.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Busson, Campbell, Christmas, Gold, Manning and Poirier (6).

In attendance: Daniele Lafrance, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-68, An Act to amend the Fisheries Act and other Acts in consequence. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 40.)

WITNESSES:

Canadian Electricity Association:

Channa Perera, Vice President, Policy Development;

Terry Toner, Director, Environmental Services, Nova Scotia Power.

WaterPower Canada:

Anne-Raphaëlle Audouin, President;

Daniel Gibson, Senior Environmental Specialist - Renewal Generation, Ontario Power Generation Inc.

Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated:

Alastair Campbell, Senior Policy Advisor;

Jeffrey Maurice, Director of Policy and Planning, Department of Executive - Policy and Planning Branch.

The chair made a statement.

Ms. Audouin made a statement and, together with Mr. Gibson, answered questions.

Ms. Perera and Mr. Toner made statements and answered questions.

At 9:01 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 9:15 a.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Maurice made a statement and, together with Mr. Campbell, answered questions.

At 9:45 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 9:47 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business)

At 9:57 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
