Extract from the Journals of the Senate, Thursday, May 3, 2018:

The order was called for resuming debate on the motion of the Honourable Senator Dawson, seconded by the Honourable Senator Joyal, P.C., for the second reading of Bill C-309, An Act to establish Gender Equality Week.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The bill was then read the second time.

The Honourable Senator Mercer moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Day, that the bill be referred to the Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights.
