The Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights met in camera this day at 11:32 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Wanda Elaine Thomas Bernard, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Ataullahjan, Bernard, Cordy, Hartling, Martin, Ngo and Pate (8).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Boyer (1).
In attendance: Jean-Philippe Duguay and Alexandra Smith, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Síofra McAllister, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft agenda (future business).
The chair made a statement.
It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room during the in camera meeting.
It was agreed that the committee allow the transcription of today's in camera meeting, that one copy be kept with the clerk of the committee for consultation by committee members or staff present, and that the transcript be destroyed by the clerk when authorized to do so by the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, but no later than at the end of the parliamentary session.
It was agreed that for the purposes of receiving testimony during the committee's public hearing in Winnipeg on October 4, 2018, quorum be any 2 members of the committee.
At 12:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
