The Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament met this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Leo Housakos, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Eggleton, P.C., Frum, Gold, Greene, Griffin, Housakos, Joyal, P.C., Maltais, Marwah, Omidvar, Seidman, Wells and Woo (14).

In attendance: David Groves, Marc-André Roy and Laurence Brosseau, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to rule 12-7(2)(c), the committee considered the orders and practices of the Senate and the privileges of Parliament.

WITNESS:

As an individual:

Richard Gordon, Barrister, Brick Court Chambers.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Gordon made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:09 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:11 a.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Gordon answered questions.

At 10:39 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
