Extract from the Journals of the Senate, Thursday, October 4, 2018:

Consideration of the twenty-ninth report (interim) of the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration (In Camera Proceedings), presented in the Senate on September 18, 2018.

The Honourable Senator Marwah moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Boniface, that the report be adopted.

After debate,

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

NOTE: The twenty-ninth report (interim) of the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration included the following recommendation:

[T]hat the Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament examine the possibility of amending the Rules of the Senate to expressly give the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration the necessary discretion to meet in camera when required. Any proposed amendment should balance the occasional need to conduct certain proceedings in private with the need to respect the highest standards of openness, accountability, and transparency.
