The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 2 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Daniel Lang, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beyak, Carignan, P.C., Dagenais, Day, Lang, Mitchell and White (7).
In attendance: Dominique Valiquet and Katherine Simonds, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament;
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on January 26, 2016, the committee began its study on Canada's national security and defence policies, practices, circumstances and capabilities.

Julie Lindhout, President.
The chair made a statement.
It was agreed that, pursuant to the order of the committee of Monday, January 25, 2016, the order of reference in relation to services and benefits for veterans and retired RCMP members, and the order of reference in relation to operational stress injuries and PTSD, having been adopted by the Senate on Thursday, January 28, 2016, be deemed referred to the Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs.
Ms. Lindhout and Mr. Perry each made a statement and together answered questions.
At 3:06 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 3:12 p.m., the committee resumed in camera pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d) for the consideration of a draft agenda (future business).
At 4 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
