The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 12 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Daniel Lang, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boisvenu, Dagenais, Harder, P.C., Jaffer, Kenny, Lang, Lankin, P.C., McIntyre, McPhedran, Moncion, Saint-Germain, Wallin and White (13).
In attendance: Mireille Laforge, Committees Directorate.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-22, An Act to establish the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians and to make consequential amendments to certain Acts.
WITNESSES:

Errol Mendes, Professor, Faculty of Law - Common Law, University of Ottawa;
Wesley K. Wark, Visiting Professor, Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, University of Ottawa.
The chair made a statement.
Mr. Mendes and Mr. Wark made a statement and, together answered questions.
At 1:16 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 1:19 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera for the consideration of a draft agenda (future business).
At 1:27 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
