The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day, at 6:45 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Dennis Dawson, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: The Honourable Senators Boisvenu, Dawson, Eggleton, P.C., Housakos, MacDonald, Mercer, Plett and Runciman (8).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Merchant (1).
In attendance: Jed Chong and Terrence (Terry) Thomas, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; Marcy Galipeau, Committees Liaison Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, January 28, 2016, the committee is beginning its study of emerging issues related to its mandate ant ministerial mandate letters.

The Honourable Marc Garneau, P.C., M.P., Minister of Transport.

Minister Joly made a statement and, together with Mr. Flack, answered questions.
At 7:46 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 7:49 p.m., the committee resumed.
Minister Garneau made a statement and answered questions.
At 8:39 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
