The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Dennis Dawson, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black, Boisvenu, Dawson, Doyle, Eggleton, P.C., Greene, MacDonald, Runciman and Unger (9).

In attendance: Jed Chong, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Silvina Danesi, Procedural Clerk, Senate Committees Directorate.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, the committee continued its study on the development of a strategy to facilitate the transport of crude oil to eastern Canadian refineries and to ports on the East and West coasts of Canada. WITNESS:

Canadian Energy Pipeline Association:

Chris Bloomer, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Bloomer made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:23 a.m., pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, the committee continued its examination of the regulatory and technical issues related to the deployment of connected and automated vehicles. The Honourable Senator Dawson, Chair of the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, reported that the subcommittee has designated the Honourable Senator Michael MacDonald to be on official business from March 30 to April 1, 2016 while attending the National Data and Privacy Governance Congress in Calgary, Alberta pursuant to the Senators Attendance Policy.
