The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 6:45 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Dennis Dawson, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black, Boisvenu, Dawson, Doyle, Eggleton, P.C., MacDonald, Mercer, Runciman and Unger (9).
In attendance: Jed Chong, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, the committee continued its study on the development of a strategy to facilitate the transport of crude oil to eastern Canadian refineries and to ports on the East and West coasts of Canada. Railway Association of Canada:
Michael Bourque, President and Chief Executive Officer.
Canadian Pacific Railway:
Glen Wilson, Vice-President, Safety, Environment and Regulatory Affairs.
Mr. Wilson and Mr. Bourque made statements and answered questions.
At 7:42 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 7:55 p.m., the committee resumed.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, January 28, 2016, the committee continued it study on emerging issues related to its mandate and ministerial mandate letters.

The Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, P.C., M.P., Minister of Infrastructure and Communities.
WITNESSES:

Jean-François Tremblay, Deputy Minister;
Jeff Moore, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Communications.
The Minister made a statement and, together with Mr. Tremblay, answered questions.
At 8:11 p.m., the deputy chair, the Honourable Senator MacDonald, took the chair.
At 8:54 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
