The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met in camera this day at 6:45 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the deputy chair, the Honourable Michael L. MacDonald, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black, Boisvenu, Doyle, Eggleton, P.C., MacDonald, Mercer, Runciman and Unger (8).

In attendance: Victor Senna and Maxime Fortin, Procedural Clerks, Committees Directorate; Jed Chong and Nicole Sweeny, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, the committee continued its study on the development of a strategy to facilitate the transport of crude oil to eastern Canadian refineries and to ports on the East and West coasts of Canada. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.)

Pursuant to rule 12-16 (1)(d), the committee considered a draft report and a draft agenda.

It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room during the in camera meeting.

It was agreed that the deputy chair would seek the authority of the Senate to extend the reporting date of this study until March 31, 2017.

At 7:57 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
