The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 6:46 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Michael L. MacDonald, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boisvenu, Bovey, Cormier, Eggleton, P.C., Griffin, MacDonald, Mercer and Saint-Germain (8).
In attendance: Jed Chong, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, the committee continued its examination of the regulatory and technical issues related to the deployment of connected and automated vehicles. The deputy chair made a statement.
Mr. Kintz made a statement and answered questions.
At 7:17 p.m., the Honourable Senator Mercer took the chair.
At 7:22 pm., the Honourable Senator MacDonald resumed the chair.
At 7:55 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 7:57 p.m., the committee resumed in camera, pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), to consider a draft agenda (future business).
It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room while the committee met in camera.
The committee discussed a draft agenda.
At 8:08 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 8:12 p.m., the committee resumed in public.
It was agreed that the following special study budget application (Study on the regulatory and technical issues related to the deployment of connected and automated vehicles) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2018, in the amount of $ 47,145 be approved for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration.
