The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable David Tkachuk, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boisvenu, Cormier, Dawson, Gagné, Galvez, Griffin, MacDonald, Manning, Plett and Tkachuk (10).

In attendance: Jed Chong and Zackery Shaver, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, the committee continued its study on emerging issues related to its mandate and ministerial mandate letters. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 33.)

Roxane Brazeau-Leblond, Director, Income Tax Rulings Directorate, Legislative Policy and Regulatory Affairs Branch.

Canadian Heritage:

Thomas Owen Ripley, Acting Director General, Broadcasting and Digital Communications Branch, Cultural Affairs;

Marc Lemay, Director General, Cultural Industries, Cultural Affairs.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Jovanovic, Mr. Dimitrakopoulos, Mr. Ripley and Mr. Lemay made statements and, together with Ms. Brazeau-Lebond, answered questions.

At 10:46 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
