The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 6:45 p.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable David Tkachuk, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boisvenu, Busson, Cormier, Dasko, Gagné, Manning, Miville-Dechêne, Plett, Seidman and Tkachuk (10).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Dalphond and McCoy (2).

In attendance: Jed Chong and Zackery Shaver, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Ben Silverman, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-48, An Act respecting the regulation of vessels that transport crude oil or persistent oil to or from ports or marine installations located along British Columbia's north coast. The chair made a statement.

Mr. Henry and Mr. Campbell made statements and, together with Mr. Schumann, answered questions.

At 7:46 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 7:50 p.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Helin and Mr. Brown made statements and answered questions.

At 8:53 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 8:54 p.m., the committee, pursuant to rule pursuant to rule 12-16(1), resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).

At 9:01 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
