The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 12:04 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Jean-Guy Dagenais, presiding.

Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Boniface, Dagenais, Lang and Meredith (4).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Wallin (1).

In attendance: Havi Echenberg, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, the subcommittee began its study on issues relating to creating a defined, professional and consistent system for veterans as they leave the Canadian Armed Forces.

WITNESS:

Gary Walbourne, Ombudsman.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Walbourne made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:54 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the chair.
