The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 12:01 p.m., in room B45, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Robert Black, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black, Cordy, Cormier, Cotter, Deacon (Ontario), Gold, P.C., Jaffer, Klyne, Martin, Marwah, Oh, Petitclerc, Plett and Tannas (14).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senators Gagné (1).

Participating in the meeting: Offah Obale, Analyst, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-235, An Act respecting the building of a green economy in the Prairies.

Dale Austin, Melanie Wowk, David Chartrand, Alanna Hnatiw and Paul McLauchlin each made a statement and, together with Brad Dubeau, answered questions.

At 1:55 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 2:30 p.m., the committee resumed.

It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-235.

It was agreed that the title stand postponed.

It was agreed that clause 1, which contains the short title, stand postponed.

It was agreed that clause 2 carry, on division.

It was agreed that clause 3 carry, on division.
