The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 8:01 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Ghislain Maltais, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bernard, Beyak, Dagenais, Doyle, Maltais, Mercer, Ogilvie, Oh, Petitclerc, Pratte and Woo (11).

In attendance: Aïcha Coulibaly, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 9, 2017, the committee continued its study on the potential impact of the effects of climate change on the agriculture, agri-food and forestry sectors. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 26)

Railway Association of Canada:

Michael Bourque, President and Chief Executive Officer;

Michael Gullo, Director, Policy, Economic and Environmental Affairs.

Dairy Farmers of Canada:

Yves Leduc, Director, Policy and International Trade;

Ron Maynard, Member of Board of Directors.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Bourque made a statement and, together with Mr. Taylor, Mr. Gullo, Mr. Miller and Ms. Drysdale, answered questions.

At 9:09 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 9:14 a.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Maynard made a statement and, together with Mr. Leduc, answered questions.

At 9:58 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
