The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met in camera this day, at 8 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Diane F. Griffin, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dagenais, Doyle, Eaton, Gagné, Griffin, Maltais, Marwah, Mercer, Oh, Petitclerc, Pratte and Tardif (12).
In attendance: Aïcha Coulibaly, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Geneviève Guindon, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, October 6, 2016, the committee continued its study on the acquisition of farmland in Canada and its potential impact on the farming sector. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 17.)
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft report, in camera.
At 8:56 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 9:05 a.m., the committee resumed in public.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 9, 2017, the committee continued its study on the potential impact of the effects of climate change on the agriculture, agri-food and forestry sectors.
