The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 8:30 a.m., in the Cypress Room, Westin Bayshore, the chair, the Honourable Diane F. Griffin, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black (Ontario), Gagné, Griffin and Maltais (4).

In attendance: Aïcha Coulibaly, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Marcy Galipeau, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 9, 2017, the committee continued its study on the potential impact of the effects of climate change on the agriculture, agri-food and forestry sectors. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 26).

WITNESSES:

Werner Kurz, Researcher, Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions, University of Victoria;

Kathy Martin, Professor and Senior Research Scientist, Department of Forest and Conservation Sciences, University of British Columbia;

Lisa Wood, Assistant Professor, Ecosystem Science and Management, University of Northern British Columbia.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Kurz, Ms. Martin and Ms. Wood made statements and answered questions.

At 10 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
