The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 8:01 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Diane F. Griffin, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black (Ontario), Dagenais, Doyle, Gagné, Griffin, Maltais, Mercer, Oh, Petitclerc and Woo (10).
In attendance: Aïcha Coulibaly, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on April 24, 2018, the committee continued its consideration of the subject matter of those elements contained in Part 5, insofar as that Part relates to farming of Bill C-74, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 27, 2018 and other measures. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 50.)

The chair made a statement.
Mr. Mol and Mr. Perry made statements and; together with Ms. Albert, answered questions.
At 9:05 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 9:11 a.m., the committee resumed.
Mr. Wales and Ms. Paillat made statements and, together with Mr. VanderHout, answered questions.
At 10:05 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 10:06 a.m., the committee resumed to consider a draft special study budget application in relation to how the value-added food sector can be more competitive in global markets for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019.
The Honourable Senator Black moved:
That the following budget application for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019, in relation to the special study on how the value-added food sector can be more competitive in global markets, be approved for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration:
