The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met in camera this day at 8:04 a.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Diane F. Griffin, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bernard, Dagenais, Deacon (Nova Scotia), Deacon (Ontario), Doyle, Griffin, Kutcher, Mercer, Miville-Dechêne, Oh and Pratte (11).
In attendance: Corentin Bialais and Offah Obale, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament and Síofra McAllister, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 15, 2018, the committee continued its study on how the value-added food sector can be more competitive in global markets. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 47).
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft report.
It was agreed:
That the draft report on the committee's study on the value-added be adopted, as amended, and that the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be authorized to approve the final version of the report and the executive summary taking into account any changes discussed today as well as grammatical or editorial changes; and
That the chair be authorized to table the amended report in the Senate, at the earliest opportunity.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
At 10:10 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
