The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 6:49 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Larry Smith, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Eaton, Marshall, Mockler, Neufeld and Smith (Saurel) (6).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Pratte (1).

In attendance: Alex Smith and Sylvain Fleury, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, the committee began its study of the federal government's multi-billion dollar infrastructure funding program.

APPEARING:

The Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, P.C., M.P., Minister of Infrastructure and Communities.

WITNESSES:

Infrastructure Canada:

Jean-François Tremblay, Deputy Minister;

Yazmine Laroche, Associate Deputy Minister;

Jeff Moore, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Communications;

Marc Fortin, Assistant Deputy Minister, Program Operations;

Darlene Boileau, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services.

The minister made a statement and, together with Mr. Tremblay, answered questions.

At 7:53 p.m., the minister left the meeting with Mr. Tremblay and Mr. Moore. The committee suspended.

At 7:57 p.m., the committee resumed in the presence of Ms. Laroche, Mr. Fortin and Ms. Boileau, who continued to answer questions.

At 8:31 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 8:36 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee continued in camera to study a draft agenda.

It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room for the in camera meeting.

At 8:45 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
