The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 6:51 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Larry Smith, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Ataullahjan, Cools, Eaton, Marshall, Mitchell, Mockler, Neufeld, Pratte and Smith (10).

In attendance: Alex Smith and Sylvain Fleury, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, the committee resumed its examination of the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2017. Randy Larkin, Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Financial Officer, Chief Financial Officer Branch;

Sony Perron, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch.

Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada:

Paul Thoppil, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Financial Sector;

David Smith, Acting Director General, Community Infrastructure Branch, Regional Operations Sector.

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation:

Wojo Zielonka, Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice-President, Capital Markets;

Michel Tremblay, Senior Vice-President, Policy Research and Public Affairs;

Charlie MacArthur, Senior Vice-President, Regional Operations and Assisted Housing.

Mr. Larkin, Mr. Thoppil and Mr. Zielonka made statements and, together with Mr. Smith, Mr. Perron, Mr. Tremblay and Mr. MacArthur, answered questions.
