The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9:32 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Larry W. Smith, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Black, Cools, Forest, Maltais, Marshall, Moncion, Poirier, Pratte, Smith and Woo (11).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Omidvar (1).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Olivier Leblanc-Laurendeau, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, the committee continued its study on the federal government's multi-billion dollar infrastructure funding program. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 7.)

WITNESSES:

Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer:

Jean-Denis Fréchette, Parliamentary Budget Officer;

Peter Weltman, Senior Director, Costing and Program Analysis;

Jason Jacques, Director, Economic and Fiscal Analysis;

Chris Matier, Senior Director, Economic and Fiscal Analysis and Forecasting.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Fréchette made a statement and, together with Mr. Weltman and Mr. Jacques, answered questions.

At 10:50 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:52 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).

It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room during the in camera portion of the meeting.

At 10:56 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
