The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Larry W. Smith, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Black, Cools, Forest, Marshall, Marwah, Mockler, Pratte, Smith and Woo (10).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Olivier Leblanc-Laurendeau, analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, the committee began its study on the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2018.

Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat:

Brian Pagan, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management Sector;

Marcia Santiago, Executive Director, Expenditure Management Sector;

Infrastructure Canada:

Darlene Boileau, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer;

Mr. Pagan and Mr. Meyers each made a statement and, with Mr. Recker, Ms. Anderson, Ms. Chenette, Ms. Santiago and Mr. Purves, answered questions.

At 10:39 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:45 a.m., the committee resumed.

Ms. Boileau and Ms. Sinnott each made a statement and, with Mr. Fortin and Ms. McIntyre, answered questions.

At 11:30 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
