The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 6:49 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Ataullahjan, Bellemare, Black, Cools, Dagenais, Jaffer, Marshall, Mockler, Moncion, Neufeld and Pratte (12).
In attendance: Alex Smith and Sylvain Fleury, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, the committee continued its study on the Minister of Finance's proposed changes to the Income Tax Act respecting the taxation of private corporations and the tax planning strategies involved. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 39.)

Ian Pryor, Tax Lawyer, Prior Tax Law;
Michael Wolfson, Adjunct Professor, School of Epidemiology and Public Health and Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa.
Mr. Moody, Mr. Pryor and Mr. Wolfson each made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 8:09 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 8:12 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room during the in camera portion of the meeting.
At 8:30 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
