The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 3:30 p.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Cools, Deacon, Eaton, Forest, Jaffer, Marshall, Mockler, Moncion and Neufeld (10).

In attendance: Alex Smith and Shaowei Pu, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, the committee continued its consideration of the expenditures set out in the main estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 67.)

Jean-Denis Fréchette, Parliamentary Budget Officer;

Mostafa Askari, Deputy Parliamentary Budget Officer;

Jason Jacques, Senior Director, Costing and Budgetary Analysis.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Fréchette made a statement and, together with Mr. Jacques and Mr. Askari, answered questions.
