The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Deacon (Nova Scotia), Deacon (Ontario), Forest, Mockler, Moncion, Neufeld, Poirier and Pratte (9).

In attendance: Alex Smith and Shaowei Pu, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, the committee continued its consideration of the expenditures set out in the main estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 67.)

WITNESSES:

Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated:

Claude Lachance, Senior Director, Administration;

Nathalie Lessard, Director, Communications.

Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority:

Bryce Phillips, Chief Executive Officer;

Kevin Wilkinson, Controller, Interim Chief Financial Officer.

Privy Council Office:

Matthew Shea, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer;

Marian Campbell Jarvis, Assistant Secretary to the Cabinet, Social Development Policy;

Matthew Mendelsohn, Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, Office of the Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, Results and Delivery.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Lachance and Mr. Phillips each made a statement and, together with Ms. Lessard, answered questions.

At 10:31 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:37 a.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Shea made a statement and, together with Mr. Mendelsohn and Ms. Campbell Jarvis, answered questions.

At 11:33 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
