The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9:32 a.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington Street, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Bellemare, Boehm, Boisvenu, Deacon (Ontario), Duncan, Eaton, Forest-Niesing, Gold, Jaffer, Marshall, Mockler, Moncion and Pratte (14).

In attendance: Alex Smith and Shaowei Pu, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 11, 2019, the committee began its examination of expenditures set out in the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2020.

WITNESSES:

Office of the Chief Electoral Officer:

Stéphane Perrault, Chief Electoral Officer;

Hughes St-Pierre, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Internal Services.

Leaders' Debates Commission:

Michel Cormier, Executive Director;

Bradley Eddison, Director, Policy and Management Services.

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Perrault and Mr. Cormier made statements and, together with Mr. St-Pierre, answered questions.

At 10:56 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
