The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met in camera this day at 4:16 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Kelvin Kenneth Ogilvie, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cormier, Dean, McIntyre, Mégie, Neufeld, Ogilvie, Petitclerc, Seidman, Stewart Olsen and Unger (10).
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
In Attendance: Sonya Norris, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, the committee continued its study on the role of robotics, 3D printing and artificial intelligence in the healthcare system. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 14.)
It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room for the in camera portion of the meeting.
It was agreed to permit the recording and transcription of the in camera portion of the meeting, that one copy of the transcript be kept with the clerk for consultation purposes, and that the copy be destroyed at the end of the current parliamentary session.
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee discussed the preparation of a draft report, and consideration of a draft agenda (future business).
At 5:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
