The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 4:18 p.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Chantal Petitclerc, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dasko, Deacon (Ontario), Eaton, Forest-Niesing, Kutcher, Manning, Mégie, Munson, Oh, Omidvar, Pate, Petitclerc, Poirier and Seidman (14).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Klyne, LaBoucane-Benson, Moodie and Ravalia (4).
In attendance: Laura Munn-Rivard and Jean-Philippe Duguay, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 2, 2019, the committee began its examination of Bill C-83, An Act to amend the Corrections and Conditional Release Act and another Act.

The minister made a statement, and together with Ms. Wheatley and Ms. Kelly, answered questions.
At 5:19 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 5:27 p.m., the Honourable Senator Kutcher replaced the Honourable Senator Deacon as a member of the committee.
At 5:28 p.m., the committee resumed.
Ms. Fresco, Mr. Moore, Ms. Wheatley, Ms. Kelly and Mr. Tousignant answered questions.
At 6:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
