The Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights has the honour to present its
FIRST REPORT
Your Committee, which was authorized by the Senate on Thursday, May 10, 2001, to examine issues relating to human rights, and inter alia, to review the machinery of government dealing with Canada's international and national human rights obligations, now requests approval of funds for 2001-2002.Pursuant to section 2:07 of the Procedural Guidelines for the Financial Operation of Senate Committees, the budget submitted to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration and the report thereon of that Committee are appended to this report.

The Honourable Senator Andreychuk moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Bolduc:
That the Standing Senate Committee on Human rights be authorized to examine issues relating to human rights, and, inter alia, to review the machinery of government dealing with Canada's international and national human rights obligations; and
That the Committee report to the Senate no later than Wednesday, October 31, 2001.
