The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources has the honour to present its

NINTH REPORT

Your Committee was authorized by the Senate on March 1st, 2001, to examine such issues as may arise from time to time relating to energy, the environment and natural resources.

Pursuant to section 2:07 of the Procedural Guidelines for the Financial Operation of Senate Committees, the budget application submitted was printed in the Journals of the Senate of March 29, 2001. On April 3, 2001, the Senate approved the release of $162 820 to the Committee. The Senate subsequently approved the release of an additional $125 000 to the Committee on June 12, 2001.

The report of the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration recommending the release of additional funds is appended to this report.

APPENDIX (B) TO THE REPORT

THURSDAY, November 29, 2001

The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration has examined the budget presented to it by the Standing Committee on Energy, the Environment, and Natural Resources for the proposed expenditures of the said Committee for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2002 for the purpose of its Special Study of issues as may arise from time to time relating to energy, the environment and natural resources, including the continuation and completion of the study on Nuclear Reactor Safety. The Committee recommends the release of the following additional funds:

Professional and Other Services	$ 15,300
Transport and Communications	$ 116,920
Other Expenditures	$ 250
TOTAL	$ 132,470
