The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans has the honour to present its

SIXTH REPORT

Your Committee, which was authorized by the Senate on Monday, June 16, 2003 to examine and report upon matters relating to quota allocations and benefits to Nunavut and Nunavik fishermen, respectfully requests that it be empowered to engage the services of such counsel and technical, clerical and other personnel as may be necessary.

Pursuant to section 2:07 of the Procedural Guidelines for the Financial Operation of Senate Committees, the budget submitted to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration and the report thereon of that Committee are appended to this report.

APPLICATION FOR BUDGET AUTHORIZATION
FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING MARCH 31, 2004

Extract from the Journals of the Senate of Wednesday, Monday, June 16, 2003:

The Honourable Senator Comeau moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Beaudoin:

That the Senate Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans be authorized to examine and report upon the matters relating to quota allocations and benefits to Nunavut and Nunavik fishermen; and

That the Committee table its final report no later than March 31, 2004.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration has examined the budget presented to it by the Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans for the proposed expenditures of the said Committee for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2004 for the purpose of its Special Study on Nunavut and Nunavik Quotas and Benefits as authorized by the Senate on Monday, June 16, 2003. The said budget is as follows:
